French Manufacturer Special plates
The plates with EIJ were used for tests of Peugeot 306 in Egypt, Israel and Jordan. The numbers with 300 series were for
306 three doors, those with 400 series for 306 Sedan and those with 500 series for 306 five doors.
Similar license plates were used for other tests : 624 JOR 75 for 406
Coupé in Jordan, 423 HDI 75 for direct injection 406 in Egypt, 710 EGY 75 for a Partner AWD in Egypt, PT 75 for Partner Dangel in Mauritania or 299 KSN 75 for the first 106 tested
in Kenya.
In early 2000, Peugeot 607 were tested in Jordan. They were registered 113, 119 and 124 DWM 75 and 122 ESA 75, also on a red background. The D stood for Diesel (and E for Petrol - Essence in French), the M or A for Manual or Automatic gearbox.
Symbols such as a dot, a square, a circle or, more rarely, a triangle could sometimes be found on some of license plates used by manufacturers, notably on license plates used on Peugeot vehicles tested by automobile magazines and registered in the normal series. A dot before or after the letters was often characteristic of license plates used by this manufacturer.
Plates manufactured in Renault factories had often a large space between the four digits and the letters. In this space,
can be used a small rectangle or even two nested rectangles. On some plates from the same manufacturer, it could have the company's logo after the letters. In the photo above, the
triangle probably gave access to a Renault factory in the south of Paris, but some garages offered plates with small symbols between the serial number and the letters.
Before
the department 92 reached the letters RN, Renault often presented its vehicles to the press with unofficial and unallocated registrations such as 19nn RN 92 (19nn for the year and
RN for Régie Nationale).
