Codes used in each département betweeen 1928 and 1950 - by Yann Sciardis

From 1928 to 1950, letters I and O were not used, as well as doubled letters. The letter W was used for dealer registration. To avoid confusion with the International Ovals, these series were not used : BR CS CU DA DK ET FL GB GR LR LT MC MN MS NL PA PE PL RA et RH,  as well as AL, MA and TU unsed in french north Africa.
From 1941 for trailers and Agricultural vehicles and from 1943 for motorcycles, different series were used, the last one attributed to the département : for instance 160 FH7 is a trailer registration in Eure et Loir, 234 ZP6 is a motorcycle registration in Haute-Vienne.
